Agricultural Sciences Research Overview

The department of Agricultural Sciences at GIET University has emerged as an institute devoted to promoting agricultural research, knowledge pool, and national partnerships that have helped in transforming Indian agriculture and related policies. The department wishes to promote ecologically and environmentally sustainable and equitable agriculture. The goals of the department of Agricultural Sciences are to impart technical education in agriculture and the allied sector as well as to search for new frontiers of Agricultural Sciences.

The faculty and the students have been researching various areas, the notable ones are:

Developing Biologically Based Materials and Products

Our researchers are working towards meeting the promise of sustainable clean energy, reuse of agricultural and animal waste, income generation through new, value-added bio-products to support the rural economy.

Agricultural Engineering

Engineering approaches are being applied to agriculture to promote sustainable and smart solutions for farming, food processing, and so on. Agricultural Engineering focuses on the analysis, planning, design, and modeling of irrigation and drainage systems, wastewater reuse, agricultural equipment, worker safety in agri-food industries, and so on.

Advancing agricultural and food systems

To meet the challenges of climate change and increasing global population, agriculture must reduce its required inputs of energy, water, and chemicals. The department of Agricultural Sciences at the University is working towards increasing crop productivity, producer profitability, and improving soil health through various scientific and innovative interventions.

Animal Science

Our researchers study breeding and genetics, genomics, feeding and nutrition, farming and processing technologies, systems, and practices applied in all animal value chains for the efficient, safe, and sustainable production of food of animal origin.

Building Community Resilience and Capacity

Our researchers have been working hard to ensure that local communities can be built greater resiliency to natural and economic disasters. And at the same time diversify their economies through the implementation of cost-effective policies.

The department of Agricultural Sciences at GIET University has been researching to make agricultural education reactive to the developing and varying needs of the farming community.
