About The Department

The department of biotechnology has established in 2004. Today it has been proven as a best department for study and research in the field of biotechnology. Biotechnology department comprising of highly experienced faculties with well equipped state-of-art laboratories. The laboratories include microbiology lab, molecular biology lab, bioinstrumentation lab, plant tissue culture lab and bioinformatics lab. Apart from those two R&D laboratories has been established with equipped modern equipments to carry out the research work. The department has identify for its innovative R&D programme in various field like Bioremediation, Bioleaching, Nano biotechnology, Phyto chemical extraction and their characterization of ethno medicinal plants etc.Professors from other premier institute and industrial personnel are regularly visiting to the department to imbibe the recent knowledge in the field in the mind of students. The department is striving to be a model department for imparting quality education and research activity in the field of biotechnology.

PEOs

PEO-1: The training in order to develop problem solving abilities in the field of Biotechnology and its successfulness with relevance to industry.
PEO-2: The competence in research, design of new experiments / projects such as Microbiology, Animal Biotechnology, Bioprocess technology and allied fields.
PEO-3: The ability to apply the professional knowledge and skill with ethical values to evolve themselves as an entrepreneur.
PEO-4: The urge to go for advanced learning in the latest techniques and skills of biotech and to serve the society as a professional for sustainable development.

 

PSO – 1 Students will be able to identify and analyze the problems related to biological fields and finding of suitable solutions with basic knowledge in biotechnology Engineering.
PSO – 2 To understand the need and impact of biotechnological solutions on environment, industry, agriculture and society keeping in view of appropriate sustainable solution and development.

 

  • PO1: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • PO2: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • PO3: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • PO4: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • PO5: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • PO6: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • PO7: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  • PO8: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  • PO9: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  • PO10: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  • PO11: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  • PO12: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
