Corporate Social Responsibility
Since inception of the institute Gandhi Institute of Engineering & Technology (Autonomous)(GIET) , Gunupur has long and cherished tradition of commendable initiatives, institutionalized programmes and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility which played a laudable role in the development of several underdeveloped regions of this locality.
Blood Donation Camp
Every month GIET (Autonomous), Gunupur conducts Blood Donation & Health Awareness Camp in collaboration with Govt. Hospital of Gunupur and Parlakhemundi. Faculty, Staff and Students of the institution hole heartily participate in the drive. Every month minimum 100 units of blood collection and donating to the hospitals for their ready use is a common process.
As a result GIET (Autonomous), Gunupur had received prizes and awards from different organisations. One of the most remarkable achievements is that of the award received from the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik for donating highest units (1,056) of blood on NSS day.
Creation of Community Wealth
Health checkup camps: The aim is to improve quality of life of the surrounding areas and sensitizing the society towards building a healthier and happier nation. In this direction we have taken a few initiatives. Our own medical team with two
doctors along with mobile van, which are well equipped with medicines and medical aids to facilitate medical checkups and diagnosis of the disease visit peripheral village nearby. This helps in treating aliments, promoting childcare and health care of the villagers in every quarter of the year.
HIV/AIDS Awareness programme: We follow a comprehensive programme for creating and building AIDS / HIV awareness especially targeted at the truckers, migrant labor populations and for the villagers.
Kharlinigi & Narshingmunda (Safai Abhiyan): As a part of CSR programme we took up the garbage cleaning drive to help the environment and avoid spread of disease. Bimonthly our student volunteers are cleaning the drains and garbage in open areas from various villages. Sprinkling disinfectants and bleaching power in surrounding areas are usual process. The aim was to improve quality of life of the villagers towards the concept of building a healthier, happier and safer nation.
Unemployment is a serious problem in the interior parts of our area. Majority of the citizens are engaged in activities yielding low productivity and income. Majority of the youth are unemployable due to lack of suitable training and experience. The objectives are to skill, train and employ youths for suitable professions and give them experience, so that they can come back to their local environment with gainful employment. The programme ; “SWABALMBAN” has been started to enhance their earnings which ultimately leads to improvement in their standard of living. The objective of the programme:
